  26. This file provides information for Shareware Distributors, Disk
  27. Vendors and Computer Clubs who wish to distribute the FM StepUp
  28. package.

  40.                     Distribution Requirements

  43. Individuals who wish to distribute the FM StepUp package to
  44. friends or associates may do so in accordance with the
  45. restrictions outlined in on-line Help.
  46.  
  47. Computer Clubs and User Groups wishing to add the FM StepUp
  48. package to their disk library may do so in accordance with the
  49. Distribution Restrictions listed below.
  50.  
  51.    If you would like your Computer Club or User Group to be placed
  52.    on our mailing list for future upgrades to any of our products,
  53.    please contact us for complete details.  Our address is given
  54.    in DESCRIBE.TXT.

  56. Limited Distribution License:

  59. As the exclusive copyright holder for FM StepUp, ChaoSoft
  60. authorizes distribution only in accordance with the following
  61. restrictions.
  62.  
  63. ASP Approved Vendors in good standing are hereby given permission
  64. to distribute FM StepUp package.  Non-ASP member vendors must
  65. request permission prior to distributing this package.
  66.  
  67. The FM StepUp package is defined as containing all the material
  68. listed in the PACKING.LST text file.  If any files listed in the
  69. PACKING.LST text file, or the PACKING.LST file itself, are
  70. missing, then the package is not complete and distribution is
  71. forbidden.  Please contact us to obtain a complete package
  72. suitable for distribution.

  74. The FM StepUp package - including all related program files and
  75. documentation files - CANNOT be modified in any way and must be
  76. distributed as a complete package, without exception.  The
  77. PACKING.LST text file contains a list of all files that are part
  78. of the FM StepUp package.

  80.    Small additions to the package, such as the introductory or
  81.    installation batch files used by many shareware disk vendors,
  82.    are acceptable.
  83.  
  84. No price or other compensation may be charged for the FM StepUp
  85. package.  A distribution fee may be charged for the cost of the
  86. diskette, shipping and handling, as long as the total (per disk)
  87. does not exceed US$5.00 in the U.S. and Canada, or US$8.00
  88. internationally.

  90. Disk Sets & CD-ROMs:

  92. The FM StepUp package CANNOT be sold as part of some other
  93. inclusive package.  Nor can it be included in any commercial
  94. software packaging offer, without a written agreement from
  95. ChaoSoft.

  97.    ASP Approved Vendors who wish to distribute the FM StepUp
  98.    package as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or
  99.    a CD-ROM package) may do so provided that all the other
  100.    restrictions are met.

  102.    Vendors (non-ASP Vendor Members) who wish to distribute the FM
  103.    StepUp package as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk
  104.    set, or a CD-ROM package) must obtain permission from ChaoSoft
  105.    prior to beginning such a distribution.

  107.    If you wish to add any of our programs to a CD-ROM or other
  108.    collection, please check the release date of the version you
  109.    have.  If the version is over three (3) months old then please
  110.    contact us to ensure that you have the most current version.
  111.    This version was released in September, 1994.

  113. Disk-of-the-Month (or Subscription) Distribution:

  115. If you would like to distribute the FM StepUp package as a
  116. Disk-of-the-Month, or as part of a subscription or monthly
  117. service, then the following restrictions apply:

  119.    ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing are hereby
  120.    given permission to distribute the FM StepUp package under the
  121.    Disk-of- the-Month style of distribution.
  122.  
  123.    Others (non-ASP Members) must contact us in advance to ensure
  124.    that you have the most current version of the software.
  125.  
  126.    You cannot use a Disk-of-the-Month distribution to use up your
  127.    inventory of old (out of date) disks.  Only current versions
  128.    may be shipped as Disk-of-the-Month disks.

  130. The disk-based documentation may not be distributed in PRINTED
  131. (hardcopy) form.
  132.  
  133. You may not list any of our products in advertisements, catalogs,
  134. or other literature which describes our products as "FREE
  135. SOFTWARE".  Shareware is "Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not
  136. free.
  137.  
  138. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the
  139. Software. You are not allowed to make any modifications to, or to
  140. create derivative works from any of the files that are used in
  141. this software. This includes all the executable, help,
  142. installation, and readme files, as well as graphics images. Any
  143. such unauthorized use shall result in immediate and automatic
  144. termination of this license.

  146. U.S. Government Information:  Use, duplication, or disclosure by
  147. the U.S. Government of the computer software and documentation in
  148. this package shall be subject to the restricted rights applicable
  149. to commercial computer software as set forth in subdivision
  150. (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software
  151. clause at 252.227-7013 (DFARS 52.227-7013).  The Contractor/
  152. manufacturer is ChaoSoft, P.O.Box 43, Old Town, Maine, 04468-0043.
